Full Character NameRoland Percy
RaceHuman
GenderMale
Age18
Personality TraitsCocky, stubborn, and sometimes stupidly brave, Roland is an arrogant yet fiercely protective person who sees himself as a champion and a hero. He's confident, good-hearted, and laid-back, always wanting others to see him as strong, capable, and intelligent. Unfortunately, his ego often gets in the way, and his attempts to prove himself tend to make situations worse rather than better.
Beneath all that bravado, Roland is far more human and insecure than he'd ever care to admit. When he's alone, his confidence tends to crumble, leaving him questioning his own worth and abilities. Despite his flaws, he genuinely cares about the people around him and will put himself in harm's way to protect them. He might not always be the hero he thinks he is, but he'll be damned if he doesn't try.

Backstory
Roland was born into a poor family in the middle of nowhere, and his life was never particularly kind to him. When he was very young, he was put up for adoption and eventually taken in by his aunt. For a while, she was the closest thing he had to a real family, but that stability came to an abrupt and brutal end when she died from a violent sickness. Left to fend for himself, Roland had nobody to guide him, look after him, or keep him out of trouble. With no one around to set boundaries or teach him right from wrong, he learned to rely on himself and do whatever it took to survive.
Unfortunately, survival didn't always mean making the right choices. Roland eventually turned to theft, stealing whatever he needed to get by. One day, he was caught stealing a loaf of bread, and the consequences followed him for the rest of his life: he was publicly branded with a permanent mark that would always remind him of his past. Rather than letting the experience break him, Roland carried on, determined to make something of himself despite everything he'd been through. Somewhere along the way, he began putting his life back together. After that day, Roland slowly began putting his life back together. Through hard work, determination, and perhaps a fair bit of stubbornness, he eventually became a squire. He's still far from perfect, and he has plenty to learn before he can become the knight, he aspires to be, but he's determined to prove himself. More than anything, Roland wants to protect the people he cares about, even if he isn't always the best at protecting himself. He might be reckless, arrogant, and prone to making a fool of himself, but when someone needs help, he'll be the first to step forward—even if he has absolutely no idea what he's doing
